Your Dentist will advise which plan applies to your clinical situation.
Your regular monthly payment will give you access to all the routine services we normally provide within the practice to preserve your dental health. This includes:
The intervals between your visits will be recommended by your dentist according to the oral health situation of your mouth.
Non-routine services, such as cosmetic dentistry, gum surgery, orthodontic treatment and occlusion therapy are not covered by the monthly payment. Also outside the plan is work involving a laboratory and prescription charges and any treatment requiring referral to consultants or specialists.
Joining a plan is very simple.
For a patient new to our practice: We carry out an examination for our usual private fee. Treatment needed will be listed and costed for you. This treatment will not be included in a plan but you may join immediately thus obtaining the discount on the treatment menu fees. We’ll advise you which level of cover is appropriate for your dental situation.
For a patient of the practice currently registered with us under the NHS: At your next visit with the dentist we will examine you mouth and then advise you which level of cover is appropriate for your dental situation.
All you have to do then is complete a direct debit mandate and your insurance cover will be effective from the start of the next month. If you ever find that you want to end the agreement you can do so simply by giving us one month’s notice. Naturally, if amounts due to us are not paid for two months in a row, we would terminate the arrangement after giving you notice. We will also advise you at least two months before our year-end of any change in your monthly payment for the following year.
If you have an unexpected emergency, such as an accident or toothache, then in normal circumstances you should call the practice for advice.
However, if you are away from home, membership of a plan allows you to call the dental helpline, who will put you in touch with a dentist who can help. What is more, if you are overseas when you need help, the dental helpline will endeavour to find an English-speaking dentist to assist you. Emergency telephone numbers will be shown on your registration card.
If you are away from home and have to see a dentist in an emergency, you should receive the temporary treatment necessary to render you in a comfortable condition. You pay that dentist and ask for a written receipt and details of treatment carried out. On your return home, we will help you complete a claim form and forward this to DPAS.
We will also help you fill in a claim form should you need treatment for a dental injury. If the treatment is likely to cost more than £175 (and thus require prior authorisation from DPAS) we will provide a costed treatment plan. An assessment by an independent dentist may be requested before this permanent treatment is authorised.
If you are on a low income you may be able to claim back some or all of you NHS Dental charges. You need to complete the HC1 form. Our receptionist can supply you with this on request.
If, when you commence treatment, you do not already have a certificate you will need to pay the NHS fee to the practice, you will be issued an NHS receipt which must be presented to the Health Authority as evidence of payment when making your reimbursement claim.
To enable us to provide you with necessary treatment under the NHS, you need to renew you NHS registration every year. Please ask one of the Nurses for the form you need to sign. Each individual in your household needs to register separately.
You have a choice of Private Care when the treatment you would like is beyond the remit of the NHS.
